July Events Report
President Obama: Keep Families Together
This July, with the Republicans’ refusal and failure to pass legislation on immigration reform, immigrant rights groups from across the country took action to demand that President Obama goes big, bold and strong to grant an administrative relief that keeps our families together. Through 1100 calls to the White House each week, powerful vigils, rallies, banner drops, hunger strikes, community forums, and press conferences with family leaders, our movement demanded that the Obama administration stop needless deportations, keep families together - and provide fair and humane treatment for our children at the border - and grant relief to our communities. Our movement will continue this push through the month of August – calling on the President to grant as big and broad a relief as possible while holding Republicans accountable for playing politics with the lives of the children fleeing violence and for their failure to pass reform.
